Bandar Seri Begawan – Cardiac Rehabilitation patients of Gleneagles JPMC SDN BHD yesterday organized a Hari Raya gathering as a means of showing their appreciation to hospital staff for the hospitality and care shown to them.
The guest of honor at the event was Gleneagles JPMC Chief Executive Officer Mr.Lee Cheow Seng. Speaking to the patients during the gathering, Mr. Lee noted he was pleased to see the friendship that has developed between the patients and staff of Gleneagles JPMC.
He also spoke of the need to develop support groups for patients of Gleneagles JPMC.
"These support groups will share their experiences with those who had their PTCA done, open-heart surgeries as well as those suffering from heart problems" he said.
"We know of some patients who were diagnosed with heart problems but refused to have their procedures done so one of the objectives of such support groups is to share with these patients the group members' personal experiences".
"I have seen how the support groups supported the patients through hard times and in some cases, had also helped counsel the family members to accept the patients' medical conditions," he added, urging patients of Gleneagles JPMC to come forward and assist the hospital in setting up such groups.
More than 100 patients and staff of Gleneagles JPMC attended the gathering as a show of appreciation for the excellent healthcare provided by the hospital and at the same time celebrate the ongoing Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Chairperson of the Organizing Committee Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Col (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir expressed his gratitude to the government for covering the high costs of cardiac treatments and this, he said, reflects the concern the government has over the welfare of the people in Brunei.
The Hari Raya gathering continued with refreshments and entertainment to mark the joyous occasion.
