With over 40 years of experience in clinical and non-invasive cardiology, paired with qualifications including a medical degree in internal medicine, and further accentuated with a specialty degree in Cardiology from India, Dr. Thirunavukkarasu successfully qualified his position as a member to the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1992 before commencing his career in Brunei.

Prior to joining our hospital, Dr. Thirunavukkarasu worked in various prestigious hospitals across India, UK and Saudi Arabia as a Consultant Cardiologist. He also had the experience of being trained at the Radiology Department of Duke University Hospital in the US, in 2006, before setting up the cardiac MRI facilities in Brunei. To further his expertise, Dr. Thirunavukkasu also underwent a series of CT training in Coronary Calcium Scoring and Coronary Angiography at the Radiology Department of Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

As he began his career journey in Brunei in 1996 through providing cardiology services at Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC), it was not until 2002 that he moved to Gleneagles JPMC upon the transfer of cardiac services to the newly formed tertiary cardiac centre. Dr. Thirunavukkarasu also facilitated in setting up the National Resuscitation Centre for Brunei in 2000, and was appointed as the Director of the Adult Cardiac Life Support Program (ACLS) the year after, while also serving as a member of the Brunei Medical Board in 2004-2005.

Not limited to his prestigious titles, Dr. Thirunavukkarasu also oversees the various functioning of Gleneagles JPMC’s Non-Invasive Cardiac Laboratory including Holter Monitoring, Treadmill Stress and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms, Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Transthoracic Echocardiography, where he has independently performed over 30,000 times in adults, paediatrics and newborns, since 1987.

Dr. Ganesan is a nature loving individual with high respect for humane values. Philanthropist and doing charity work for over 40 years. He is a father of two lovely sons and a husband to a divine wife who shaped him and his career after marriage which is an arranged marriage by the parents like most marriages in India. In his spare time, he can either be found at the gym performing his workout routine and also follows closely with the sport; cricket. An interesting fact about the doctor is that he also writes poems in Tamil since his school days and still continues to do so today.
