Gleneagles JPMC strengthens Brunei–East Kalimantan healthcare ties through cardiac knowledge-sharing and health talk

Gleneagles JPMC recently expanded its medical tourism initiative into East Kalimantan through engagements with two institutions, Rumah Sakit Parikesit (RS Parikesit) and Bank Danamon.

More than 100 medical professionals and 30 banking clients attended separate sessions on cardiac case discussions and heart health awareness.

The initiative aims to strengthen cross-border healthcare ties between Brunei and the Indonesian province while positioning Gleneagles JPMC as a leading medical tourism destination in Borneo.

Upon commencing each event, Gleneagles JPMC International Relations Executive Ms Josephina Yong introduced on the hospital's comprehensive suite of medical services, including several advanced technologies available only in Brunei within Southeast Asia.

The first visit was to RS Parikesit in Tenggarong, centred on cardiac case discussions that brought together cardiologists, clinicians and nurses.

The session aimed to facilitate the exchange of medical expertise through the discussion of several cardiac cases, while also raising awareness of Gleneagles JPMC’s hospital profile and capabilities.

In his presentation, Chief of Clinical Services and Director of Cardiac Surgery Dr Eugene Sim shared some of the cases previously done by Gleneagles JPMC, along with the hospital's many "firsts" and what it currently offers.

Also in attendance were RS Parikesit Director Dr Mauritz Silalahi and Gleneagles JPMC Chief Operating Officer Mr 'Izzul Hamzi bin Haji Jomari.

Health talk targets priority banking clients
In a separate event, a health talk tailored for priority clients was held at Bank Danamon in Samarinda, drawing some 30 participants comprising priority banking clients and bank staff.

The session was designed to educate priority clients on heart health while further promoting Gleneagles JPMC’s medical tourism services.

Deputy Head of Interventional Cardiology Dr Keyvan Kamalvand presented on key clinical matters, including an in-depth look at the cardiac procedures, common risk factors for heart disease and critical steps to take in the event of a heart attack.

Attendees were given information about preventive heart care options, including cardiachealth screening packages and also cardic procedures available at the hospital.

Also present were Bank Danamon Branch Manager Mr Paulus Lobo, Manulife Danamon Area Manager Mr Anggi Hizkia and Gleneagles JPMC Chief Operating Officer Mr 'Izzul Hamzi bin Haji Jomari.

Emphasising the hospital’s initiative on medical tourism, Gleneagles JPMC Chief Operating Officer Mr 'Izzul Hamzi bin Haji Jomari said that the East Kalimantan engagements reflect one of the hospital’s key strategic medical tourism initiatives and mark another milestone in the cardiac centre's push to strengthen regional partnerships and expand access to specialised cardiac care beyond borders.

"As we build our presence in key markets, we aspire for Gleneagles JPMC to be recognised as a trusted healthcare provider and to help position Brunei as a destination of choice for quality healthcare and medical tourism destination in Borneo and the region," he said.
